Marina Abramovic was born in Belgrade in 1946 e. Between 1965 and 1970 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade 1973 performs his first performances with dangerous objects and medicines in order to put to the test. In 1992, Marina Abramovic participated in Documenta 9 in Kassel. She tries to pass from the state of individual conscience to the state of collective conscience with various installations made of wood, crystals, and stones in 1989. In 1990-91, she was a visiting professor at the School of Fine Arts in Berlin and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. In 1992 she has a professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Between 1992-1995 Marina Abramovic taught at the School of Fine Arts of Hamburg. She won the Golden Lion for best installation at the Venice Biennale in 1997 and began teaching at the School of Fine Arts in Brunswick and continues until the year 2004.
In 2005, Abramović presents the Balkan Erotic Pirelli Foundation in Milan and the Seán Kelly Gallery in New York. In the same year she was honored by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York where she made the series of Seven Easy Pieces performance. In 2010 the MoMA in New York dedicated to the artist 's major retrospective The Artist Is Present. The following year, the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow also hosts a major retrospective of the work of Marina Abramović.
In 2011, Abramović participates as protagonist in the play by Robert Wilson The Life and Death of Marina Abramović Marina Abramović. The Artist is Present, shown for the first time in 2012 as part of the Sundance Film Festival, he then received several prix.Abramović is now to develop the MAI (Marina Abramović Institute) in Hudson, New York. This is an interdisciplinary school that has as a starting point performance.
